Ternary Polymer Solutions with Hydrogen Bonds, 1

The Flory Huggins methodology coupled to AET has been extended to ternary polymer systems, in particular to solvent (A)/polymer 1 (B)/polymer 2 (C) systems, with the two polymers displaying H-bonding interactions. Because the H-bonding can perturb the randomness of polymeric conformations, the change in Gibbs free energy of mixing, AG, should arise from changes in combinatorial entropy as well as in interaction energy. Abstract One dimensional polymeric copper-hydrazone complex {[Cu(H0.5L)(µ1,3-SCN)]0.5ClO4·0.5MeOH}n (1) has been synthesized with Cu(ClO4)2·xH2O and N'-(1-(pyridin-2-yl)ethylidene)acetohydrazide (HL) in presence of NaSCN. The ligand and the complex have been characterized by several spectroscopic techniques (IR, UV–Vis and EPR), cyclic voltammetry and the structure of 1 has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The complex is an infinite one dimensional polymer bridged by thiocyanate. The magneto-structural correlation has been determined and the non-covalent interactions present in the molecule have been energetically evaluated by means of DFT calculations.

The hydrazide-hydrazone forms inverse dimers via hydrogen bonding, but its conformation is defined by the presence of an intra­molecular chalcogen bond. Electrostatic forces dominate in the crystal packing and give rise to a layered supra­molecular structure.

Technology designers and developers can be understood as social experience (SE) mediators. In user experience (UX), notions of SE have served to identify and define the factors contributing to human-technology interaction (HTI). Towards Experiencing Eating as a Form of Play

There is an increasing trend in interaction design to engage with food. We note that most prior work targets instrumental benefits (for example see food tracking apps to manage nutritional intake). In contrast, in this article, we highlight the potential of technology to support eating as a form of play. We reflect on our own work to articulate two design strategies for game designers on how they can facilitate playful eating experiences using novel technologies. Ultimately, with our work, we aim to facilitate a more playful engagement around the way we eat.

Sketcching sonic interactions

This chapter provides an overview of methods and practices for sketching sound in interactive contexts. The chapter stresses the role and importance of producing and interacting with provisional sound representations in conceptual sound design. The cognitive benefits of embodied sound sketching are discussed and outlined by means of practical examples and basic exercises. In particular, vocalizations and gestures are proposed as primary cognitive artifacts available to sound designers to enact sonic impressions and displays, cooperatively.
